Food Calorie Info

My two thoughts on food for backpacking: 1) You need to be able to stomach it* 2) After #1, Calorie density is everything**

*You can only find out what you can stomach by backpacking. The first time you go, you won’t know. AT Thru-hiker palates change during the course of their hike, and they change their menu. A little variety can be helpful. I read that one of the triple-crown in a single year guys (triple-crown is PCT, CDT and AT) ate just snickers bars during the day and had a three meal rotation for dinner.

** Because minimizing pack weight is an exceptionally important thing for backpacking
